Full Description
Important goals for William & Mary are raising our national and international presence and strengthening our brand. A key piece of that effort is the entire university being consistent in how we talk about ourselves. With this in mind, the university recently updated its Brand Guidelines website to clearly communicate W&M’s editorial style, including appropriate guidelines for web copy.
In the guide, “William & Mary” — with ampersand —is the appropriate first reference in all communications. William & Mary wants to reinforce “whole-institution thinking” in communications, and “College of” does not accurately reflect the breadth of our full university. In addition to being a world-class undergraduate liberal arts and sciences institution, W&M is very much a research university with thriving professional and graduate programs. We are “William & Mary;” we embrace all that the ampersand represents!
W&M asks that student organizations join the effort by reviewing your websites and social media profiles, including logos, to align with W&M’s usage. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact creative@wm.edu.
