Leadership Initiatives

SLD sponsors a variety of campus-wide initiatives throughout the year that help us share information across campus about leader development and leadership development. These are not programs for the select few. We believe that leadership should be accessible to all and these initiatives help us to spread our message. The content behind these initiatives has been identified as high-impact practices in student leadership development by the Multi-Institutional Study of Leadership.

Depth Over Breadth – It is the depth of involvement over the breadth of involvement that fosters lasting leadership development

No Title Needed – anyone can contribute to positive change, with or without a formal title or positional role within an organization

Mentoring Matters – mentors help us grow and develop in many facets of life, including as leaders

Pursue Perspective – students who seek a better understanding of others’ world views and perspectives are likely to be more successful leaders
