As a part of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), AFOSR's technical experts foster and fund research within AFRL, universities, and industry laboratories to ensure the transition of research results to support USAF needs. American Diabetes Association The American Diabetes Association Research Program supports basic and clinical diabetes research aimed at preventing, treating, and curing diabetes. Our projects cover such areas as genetics, islet cell biology, immunology, diabetes education and behavioral research. The program is designed to complement the National Institutes of Health (NIH) diabetes research program by supporting new investigators and new research ideas.
American Federation for Aging Research Research on aging and aging processes leads the way to a greater understanding of all age-related diseases. The grant and fellowship programs encourage scientists and physicians to pursue careers in the aging field.
The American Mathematical Society (AMS) offers the Centennial Fellowship Program. The American Mathematical Society provides programs and services that promote mathematical research and its uses, strengthen mathematical education, and foster awareness and appreciation of mathematics and its connections to other disciplines and to everyday life. AMS offers the Centennial Research Fellowship Program to mathematicians to help further their careers in research. Recipients must have held their doctoral degree for at least three years and not more than twelve years at the inception of the award.

National Research Council The National Research Council (NRC) is part of a private, nonprofit institution that provides science, technology and health policy advice. The Fellowships Office (FO) of the National Academies administers fellowships awards that play an important role in the career development of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers and scholars for the academic, federal, industrial and international workforce.
National Science Foundation (NSF) NSF is an independent federal agency created to promote the progress of science, to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare, and to secure the national defense. NSF is the funding source for approximately 20 percent of all federally supported basic research conducted by America's colleges and universities. The research includes many fields such as mathematics, computer science and the social sciences.

Whitaker International Fellows & Scholar Program The Whitaker International Fellows and Scholars Program supports opportunities to go abroad to leverage international expertise. Biomedical engineers can use program to go overseas to help further their careers, and the field of BME. Potential overseas activities could include conducting research at an academic institution, interning at a policy institute, establishing ties between home and host institutions, and pursuing post-doctoral research.
Whitehall Foundation The Whitehall Foundation is a non-profit corporation which is focused exclusively on assisting basic research in vertebrate (excluding clinical) and invertebrate neurobiology in the United States. Investigations should specifically concern neural mechanisms involved in sensory, motor, and other complex functions of the whole organism as these relate to behavior. The overall goal should be to better understand behavioral output or brain mechanisms of behavior.
