About Ye

Hello, I’m Ye Xiao (she/her), and I major in computational mathematics. I was born in Wuhan, China, but I grew up in Shanghai. I have tried a variety of things on campus—I was a Sharpe scholar, participated in the Sharpe journalism program, conducted research on eviction since freshman year summer, and right now I’m exploring the wonderful art of photography. I am interested in social justice, cats and translation.

Favorite Spot on Campus

I enjoy being on the deck behind Keck lab. Freshman year I lived in Botetourt Complex, and I went on walks on the trails behind Keck lab a lot.

Advice to New Students

Being an international student here can be very challenging, so remember to look for support when you need it—whether it’s from friends, family, faculty or by seeking professional help. Meanwhile, try new things but don’t blame yourself for not being able to do everything!
