International Academic Partnership Program (IAPP) Greece
The Institute for International Education (IIE) launched the International Academic Partnership Program (IAPP) focusing on Greece, in partnership with the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs in December 2019. In November 2022, all 24 Greek public universities and 30 U.S. higher education institutions—including William & Mary—came together as part of the first in-person visitation to Greece through IAPP Greece. The delegation trip included the Pharos Summit, a high-level forum to amplify the strength of the U.S.-Greek higher education collaborations.
IAPP Greece supports the already deep U.S. and Greek relationship and provides participants with an in-depth understanding of the opportunities for their own institution’s partnership-building capabilities and academic collaboration with institutions in Greece.
The purpose is to foster sustainable, bi-lateral partnerships between U.S. and Greek higher education institutions through strategic planning, expert guidance, informational webinars, and an in-person delegation to Greece.
About IAPP
The International Academic Partnership Program (IAPP) was developed through IIE’s Center for International Partnerships in 2009 in response to the demand from higher education institutions to develop comprehensive, sustainable academic partnerships with their counterparts abroad. The IAPP is unique in its multi-faceted approach, combining strategic planning, virtual communication, group learning, and face-to-face interactions to help institutions find the right partners. The IAPP typically focuses on connecting U.S. higher education institutions with partners in a target country. To date, IIE has led more than 20 IAPPs with 14 different countries. While it is recommended that the program last from 8 –12 months, IIE works in partnership with each country partner to determine the right structure for that particular program.
