Africana House
Program Purpose & Goals
Africana House is a living-learning community that promotes awareness of and explores the scholarship on the history, cultural traditions, and political and economic circumstances that define over 1.2 billion people of African descent.
Student Experience
Africana Studies faculty are currently applying for additional funding next year and hoping to expand the program. If our application is successful, Africana House will offer many community events for the residents next year.
The Africana House is located in Landrum Hall. This hall is ADA accessible for students of all abilities to have the opportunity to participate in Africana House programs.
Check out this news story about the house and read the blog.
Learning Outcomes
This community (limited to 42 students) is intended to broaden the learning experience at W&M beyond the traditional classroom while providing a smaller village-like setting within the more prominent university where students live and work together.
