The Information Technology Software site contains a combination of free software, software available for purchase at a discounted rate, and software that has been licensed by William & Mary.

Licensed software is intended for use by members of the W&M community only and is protected by the copyright and license restrictions and terms included in the program files. By downloading this software, the user agrees to abide by these restrictions and terms. Students are also bound by the rules and regulations stated in the Student Handbook under "Regarding Use/Misuse of ComputingResources."

The download and distribution of licensed software is restricted in one of two ways. Some contracts restrict software use based on location, so this site blocks off-campus users from downloading that software. Some contracts restrict software use based on identity, so this site requires W&M users to authenticate against the W&M directory server to download that software.

Most discounted software can only be purchased by faculty and staff and installed on university-owned computers. The Technology Support Center will install this software.

Also, please note that this site offers some products with 128-bit encryption. Such software may be subject to U.S. export laws on the export of encryption technology.
