IT Fist Bump: Rebecca Kinkead
Part of W&M Information Technology’s mission is to develop and nurture meaningful relationships and collaborations on campus and beyond. Our work would not be possible without the partnerships we have across campus, and so many of our colleagues deserve a thank you and a (virtual) fist bump!
In this issue, we’d like to feature Rebecca Kinkead, a Senior Sourcing Specialist and a valued partner in the IT department.
Rebecca has been a core part of IT as a collaborator, highlighted recently through her work on the Workday implementation partner RFP. Andrew Crawford, a co-worker, recalls how Rebecca’s dedication and positive attitude were key in navigating a project of this capacity. Despite tight scheduling and a shortened timeline, Rebecca went above and beyond, often working after hours to ensure many deadlines were met. Her efforts both helped secure a cooperative contract that benefits all public institutions in the state and showcased W&M’s values to peer institutions and adjacent companies alike.
Rebecca’s colleagues in IT appreciate her approachability, expertise in procurement, and consistent communication, which have streamlined purchasing processes and removed many potential obstacles. Additionally, her knowledge of contracting rules is unmatched, and her approach to genuinely caring for her team has made her an invaluable partner in the department. Crawford also spoke on how Rebecca often takes the time to check in on her colleagues, asking about their families, health, and even pets, which speaks to her thoughtful nature.
With her curiosity, insightful questions, and perseverance in advocating for the university's best interests, Rebecca serves as a trusted ally within the IT department.
Thank you for all you do, Rebecca!
