Bio
Lydia Slater's '26  love of nature began at the age of 8, when she started attending summer camp on Lake Erie. Her summers spent outdoors, combined with her growing awareness of climate change, sparked her strong passion for conservation. She has enjoyed working at the same summer camp for the past five years, despite frequently chasing raccoons out of cabins full of 9-year-olds in the middle of the night.

Courses like conservation planning, conservation GIS, and ecology have deepened Lydia’s interest and knowledge in the field. She has also gained research experience working with Professor Chambers on a stream restoration project. Recently, she joined the IIC Student Leadership Council, where she is excited to expand her contributions to the IIC community and encourage peers to engage with conservation through IIC events.
