Leah Connell '27 has always loved spending time outdoors—whether hiking, hammocking, or simply exploring nature. As a Biology and Data Science major, she is passionate about conserving the natural world for future generations by analyzing patterns in plant and animal populations.Leah has hands-on experience in conservation work, including mapping plants on campus for William & Mary's arboretum through the Conservation GIS Lab, and advocating for climate action on Capitol Hill with Citizens' Climate Lobby.
Over the course of two semesters with the IIC, Leah has developed an appreciation for the intersection of indigenous perspectives and scientific approaches in crafting sustainable solutions. She has interviewed women leaders in conservation and is grateful for the opportunity to connect with conservation specialists in Kenya. Leah aspires to work in the conservation field, travel to more countries, and deepen her understanding of environmental issues from a global perspective.
