Bio

Ava Fischer '26 is from Charlottesville, VA, and is majoring in Biology with a minor in Anthropology. She developed her love of nature through weekend camping trips and visits to the beach. Outside of academics, Ava is a member of the W&M Women’s Club Rugby team and Phi Sigma Pi. She enjoys traveling, painting, reading, and hiking. Ava has a diverse range of interests, spanning human medicine, environmental sciences, human culture, and interdisciplinary studies.

While still exploring her career path, she is eager to learn more about conservation and how her varied interests can intersect in this field. Ava's interest in conservation was sparked by the potential to combine her passion for biology with her fascination for culture. She hopes to apply her multidisciplinary perspectives to address challenges like carnivore-herder conflicts and expand her skills in conservation practice.
