Developing Inexpensive and DIY Waters Sensors to Advance Community-Let Neture-Based Conservation SolutionsBiography
Inspired by his longtime interest in science and growing up in the Appalachian foothills, Jacob has had a long held interest in biology, chemistry and the outdoors. At William & Mary, these interests have converged in a conservation project that utilizes all of these branches of knowledge.
Jacob, working within a team of researchers from both W&M and abroad, has looked into designing a water turbidity sensor that can be made with materials and methods available in the Lake Alaotra region of Madagascar. By designing this sensor, they hope to empower community members to be a part of conservation efforts in the region by giving them a blueprint for the tools to do so at an affordable cost.
