Institutional Effectiveness
William & Mary is committed to effectively and efficiently fulfilling our mission. To do so, we have established processes and practices that integrate evidence-based planning and decision-making across the institution.
William & Mary’s strategic planning process promotes our vision and our mission and is tied directly to the budgeting process through annual Planning & Budget Requests (PBRs). Each PBR is either aligned with a strategic priority or is essential to cover changes in the costs of current baseline operations. The PBRs and strategic planning are linked to academic units through profiles that document a Process of Institutional Effectiveness (PIEs).
More information on PIEs:
The PBRs and PIEs are central to a process of institutional effectiveness which is a core principle for accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Institutions accredited by SACSCOC are recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and are eligible to participate in federal programs, such as student financial aid.
