Working Group Charges & Goals
The Access Working Group is charged with expanding and improving access to existing
and new applied learning opportunities for all William & Mary undergraduates. There is a
focus on removing barriers including funding, information, and flexible timing for
underrepresented groups such as transfer students, first-generation students, and low-income
students.
- Scale available opportunities and participation rates in applied learning experiences
for all student demographics. - Ensure equitable access to information and resources related to applied learning
opportunities.
The Impact Working Group is tasked with ensuring that applied learning experiences have
a meaningful and lasting impact on students' academic and professional trajectories.
- Supporting students and their mentors in making the connection between applied
learning experiences and career pathways. - Developing and curating resources with existing platforms to assist faculty and
students in support of learning objectives, reflections, feedback, and mentorship.
The Infrastructure Working Group is responsible for developing and supporting the
necessary systems and processes to sustain and scale applied learning opportunities at
William & Mary.
- Develop robust systems for documenting, tracking, and reporting applied learning
experiences. - Developing and expanding resources, i.e. Blackboard shell sites, for faculty and
staI, to support them in creating applied learning experiences tied to courses, 0-3
credits.
The Assessment Working Group is responsible for developing and implementing a
comprehensive assessment plan to measure the eIectiveness of applied learning
experiences and their impact on student development and career readiness.
- Establish measurable student learning outcomes related to the access, impact, and
infrastructure of applied learning experiences. - Develop assessment tools to evaluate the impact of applied learning experiences
on career readiness and graduation outcomes.
