Benjamin Taylor

Major, US Army

Bio

Benjamin Taylor is a Major in the U.S. Army Special Forces, currently assigned to the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, with duty in the Pentagon.  He has completed three combat deployments to Afghanistan and operational deployments in Central Asia.  Previously, he served as an Advanced Skills Company Commander, responsible for training fellow Green Berets in advanced combat skills such as urban combat, sniper operations, and advanced infiltration techniques.  On his most recent combat deployment, he was the Chief of Staff for a 700-person task force conducting counter-insurgency and capacity building operations in eastern Afghanistan.  On two previous deployments, he worked in remote firebase locations in Afghanistan—as the commander a Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alpha and as an Infantry Officer with the 82nd Airborne Division.  Ben is a member of the Defense Entrepreneurs Forum, which fosters innovation among junior military officers, and has written extensively on military innovation.  He received a B.S. in International Politics from the U.S. Military Academy and an M.S. in Defense Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School.
