PIPS Launches E-internship Program
The Project on International Peace and Security (PIPS) announces the launch of a new E-internship program for the 2013-2014 academic year. The PIPS E-internship program electronically links students in Williamsburg with international relations and national security- related organizations throughout the country and around the world.
While on campus, undergraduate e-interns will conduct research for and support the work of policy organizations, applying the knowledge and skills they gain in class to real world challenges.
Potential candidates must meet four eligibility requirements: Government, History, International Relations or Public Policy Major; rising junior or senior; minimum of 3.4 cumulative GPA; and on campus during the entire 2013-2014 academic year.
PIPS Director Dennis Smith notes of this innovative approach, “The E-internship program offers a novel approach to internships that builds on the growing distributed design and telecommuting trends in business.”
Kathryn Floyd, faculty associate and managing director, leads the program. Floyd is a Ph.D. candidate in Strategic Studies at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University. She received a Master of Arts (War Studies) from King’s College London and a Bachelor of Arts (Government) from William & Mary.
