Tucker Cole '11 - National Security Institute
Exploring an International Affairs Career in DC
A May 2011 Government major with a Music minor, Tucker Cole spent his summer as a National Security Institute Fellow interning in the Criminal Division: Office of International Affairs at the Department of Justice.
Tucker believes the National Security Institute is essential for anyone interested in working in government. The two-week class then taught by Dr. Liz Arsenault who Tucker praises as, “one fantastic professor,” combines in-class speakers and site tours across various locations in the Washington, D.C. area including the Pentagon, CIA, NSA archives and Price Waterhouse Coopers. According to Tucker: “the two weeks are intense, with classes, site visits and great speakers; you get out of the program what you put in.”
What was Tucker’s favorite thing about the National Security Institute? “I made a lot of great connections. The program really emphasizes networking which is essential to work in the government industry. I made contacts that I still correspond with today, including William & Mary alums and several of the guest speakers.”
Tucker is a current John Hopkins University Graduate Student in the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) program concentrating on Strategic Studies.
