Natalie Boston '23
The Office of Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT)
Natalie is a junior from Darien, CT who transferred from the University of Edinburgh this fall. She is a Government major and a French minor with additional interests in International Relations and Biology. At William & Mary she is involved in the Young Democrats Club, Vox, Club Lacrosse and is a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Natalie is currently a researcher for the States Elections Organization on campus which informs citizens about local political information via social media. She has previous political intern experience in Connecticut and is eager to learn more about political polarization and gain real-world experience at the federal level.
Lily Butler '24
1607 Strategies
Lily Butler is a sophomore at William & Mary from Clarksville, Tennessee. She is a Government major and a prospective Business Analytics minor with interests in Arabic and English literature. On campus, Lily is a member of the International Relations Club, where she is a director for William & Mary’s high school Model UN conference and competes as part of the Model UN Travel Team. She serves as the Co-Editor-in-Chief of The Christopher Wren Journal and she is involved in the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, Barksdale Treble Chorus, and Reformed University Fellowship. Lily also enjoys being a teaching assistant for an elementary Arabic course. In her free time, she enjoys playing piano in Ewell, reading, watching the news, and going on walks in Colonial Williamsburg. Lily is excited to join the American Politics Summer Institute and have a front row seat to policymaking and political research, which will give her the opportunity to gain valuable working experience.
Robert Coleman '25

Robert Coleman is a freshman at William & Mary from Livingston, New Jersey. He is a prospective History and Public Policy double major with interests in American History, Modern European History, the United States Constitution, and Policy Studies. On campus, he is involved in the John Qunicy Adams Society, Undergraduate Moot Court Society, and Club Tennis. Robert is currently working on an ongoing research project that explores the origins of the political polarization that our nation faces today and the forces that may combat these internal divisions. Outside of academics, Robert enjoys playing guitar and piano, pickleball, and spending time with friends. Robert is eager to engage with others and enhance his communication skills and political/legal knowledge through the American Politics Institute.
John Dietz '24
ACT For Alexandria
John Dietz is a sophomore at William & Mary from Wilmington, Delaware. He is majoring in Public Policy and minoring in Music, with interests in Philosophy and Journalism as well. Outside the classroom, John is heavily involved with WCWM, William & Mary's student run radio station, where he serves as Head Training Director. John is also Events Manager for Meridian Coffeehouse, Social Chair for the Stairwells a cappella group, and a writer for Vinyl Tap, a campus music magazine. John is excited to take part in the American Politics Institute this summer and looks forward to learning about the real world manifestations of political polarization. He is confident that this experience will expand his political knowledge both in the classroom and the workplace.
Noah Falk '24

Noah Falk is a sophomore at the College of William & Mary from Yorktown, Virginia. He is majoring in Government with a prospective major in American Studies. For six years he worked as a paid costumed historical interpreter at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. He also interned for Delegate Mike Mullin. At William & Mary, Noah volunteers as a tour guide, with Model UN, and is president of the W&M Poker Club. In his free time, Noah likes to travel, bake, play Spikeball with his friends, and he’s published a crossword puzzle in the New York Times.
Andrew Hoffman '24
Office of Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL)
Andrew is a sophomore from Chicago, Illinois double-majoring in government and public policy. On campus he works at the Writing Resources Center where he works with students to build better academic writing. He’s also involved on the debate team, serving as its VP Operations, and on Young Democrats, serving as its Deputy Campaign Coordinator. Over the summer he worked on the finance team for a lieutenant governor campaign, and he’s excited to learn more about politics in Washington! In his free time he likes to run, read, and watch movies with friends. And he hopes the American Politics Institute can help him discover how after college he can advance the policies he believes in.
Caleb Howan '23

Caleb Howan is a Junior at William & Mary from Stanley, Virginia. He is a Government major with interests in international politics and public policy. He has always sought a potential career in DC politics since learning about the functions of government in elementary school. Outside of academics, Caleb enjoys hiking, kayaking, going to church and spending time with family and friends. Caleb is thrilled to have been selected to have this experience and the internship opportunities that the program has to offer.
Daly Martorano '24
Office of Rep. John Katko (R-NY)
Daly Martorano is a sophomore at William & Mary. She is majoring in government and minoring in either economics or English. In the future, she hopes to attend law school and become a judge. On campus, she is involved in Student Assembly and the Flat Hat. For Student Assembly, she is a member of the outreach department which plans all SA events and manages the social media accounts. As Social Media Manager, her primary focus is making sure the student body has a network of communication with SA. Through social media, students can see what SA is doing to improve campus life, and actively be a part of the plans for improvement. On the Flat Hat, she is an Associate Editor of the Variety section which reports on art and culture at William & Mary. She joined the Flat Hat to express her creative side and improve her writing. Although she doesn't’t want to be a journalist in the future, her work on the Flat Hat has helped to expand her horizons. Outside of academics, Daly is very passionate about protecting wildlife. She volunteers at the Heritage Humane Society regularly as a dog-walker. Through the American Politics Institute, she is excited to learn more about political psychology and how it affects polarization in America.
Maddy Meekins '23

Maddy Meekins (she/her) is a sophomore at William & Mary from Sonoma County, CA. She is a Government major and intended Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies minor, and her passion lies in improving the experiences of women and LGBTQ+ people, including advocating for reproductive justice and inclusive sex education. She is involved on campus as a Freshmen RA in Residence Life, recently began working with William and Mary’s Voter Engagement Action Committee, and is an active member of Random Acts of Kindness Club. Outside of being a student, Maddy loves playing games with friends, exploring the colonial area in Williamsburg, and volunteering in the community. She is looking forward to being a part of the political center of the nation in DC this summer, and Maddy particularly is eager to learn how she can contribute to tangible change.
Eduardo Rodriguez '24

Eduardo is a first-generation immigrant from Woodbridge, Virginia who is majoring in Government and minoring in Latin American Studies. As a sophomore, he is interested in immigration law and advocacy, government related journalism, social justice, and political campaigning. At William and Mary, Eduardo is a fellow for the Civic Leadership Program, a lead fundraiser for TribeThon, and an active member of the Latin American Student Union and Flat Hat campus newspaper. He was President of Yates Hall and plans to participate in other leadership positions on campus. He is particularly excited to utilize the American Politics Summer Institute to expand his knowledge about domestic politics and gain unique hands-on experience. He hopes to use this learning to advocate to immigration reform and provide new pathways to citizenship for all.

Erin is currently a junior at William and Mary and is from Poquoson, Virginia. At William and Mary, Erin studies Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies and Environmental Policy. She additionally does research in the Social Networks and Political Psychology Lab, is part of the Monroe Scholars program, is a chair for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion board for the Alpha Pi chapter of Kappa Delta, is the Vice President of NOW+, and is a peer buddy in Best Buddies. Erin looks forward to taking part in the American Politics Institute and being able to take a more in-depth look at the American political system this summer!
Brennan Rose '24

Brennan Rose is a Sophomore and plans to major in Government with a minor in Anthropology. Born and raised outside of Washington, DC, in Potomac, Maryland, his interest in government, public policy and politics began early in life. He is a political news junkie and welcomes any opportunity to discuss current events and our democratic government. As a reflection of his academic achievements, he is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi ETA Sigma first year Honor Societies. At William & Mary, Brennan is a member of the Theatre Student Association, Astronomy, and Smash Clubs. He is currently employed at the university’s post office. In line with his diverse background, Brennan is proficient in Spanish. When not in the classroom, one might find him playing ultimate Frisbee, flag football, or writing poems and stories and always cheering on his DC home teams.
Matt Rubin '23
Pfeiffer Finance Strategies
Matthew is a junior from Vienna, Virginia pursuing dual majors in Government and Data Science. His academic and personal interests lie at the intersection of American politics, geography, and data, with a focus on elections, voting patterns, redistricting, spatial data analytics, and geographic information systems (GIS). Matthew completed a summer internship with a US Congressional campaign in Maryland, with a special emphasis on analyzing the impacts of redistricting to communities within a congressional district. He also analyzed voter data and created potential redistricting maps of Delaware’s legislature on behalf of the Delaware League of Women Voters. Matthew has earned programming language certifications for both Python and R for Data Science, and he is proficient in the use of multiple applications used in the field of political science and geographic information systems. These include ArcGIS, Maptitude for Redistricting, and Dave's Redistricting App. Matthew loves to study trivia and played quiz bowl in both high school and college. He competed in the National History Bee and Bowl and the NAQT High School National Championship Tournament, and appeared on the TV show It’s Academic five times. He is an avid fan of Boston sports teams and enjoys watching games, running, and playing ultimate frisbee in his free time.
Mia Tilman '24
Office of Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA)
Mia Tilman (She/Her) is a sophomore at William & Mary from Falls Church, Virginia. She is a Government and Economics major and is involved on campus as an elected Senator for the Class of 2024 and the Senate Finance Chair in the William & Mary Student Assembly, a dedicated member of the William & Mary Young Democrats, and a Freshmen RA in Residence Life. She was formerly a Sharpe Scholar on campus and has worked for numerous Virginia State Delegates in recent years in addition to personal activism efforts. Mia is passionate about how policymaking and activism can impact economic inequality in the United States as a means to seeking racial justice and equity. Outside of being a student, Mia loves to spend time with friends, sitting with her dog Mocha, trying different latte flavors, and listening to podcasts. She is eager to spend the summer experience the hustle of political life in DC and learn how she can enact tangible change towards justice and equity through policy research/advocacy and legislating.
