The Haven: A Center for Support, Advocacy, and Empowerment is currently recruiting student volunteers for the position of Confidential Advocate.
Application Process:
- Complete and submit this application (http://forms.wm.edu/36444).
- The deadline is Wednesday, March 14 at 5:00 pm.
- Interviews for selected applicants will begin the week of March 26th.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Selected applicants MUST attend MANDATORY training the Fall of 2018. Missing the mandatory training will automatically terminate your position as Confidential Advocate. Mandatory training will be held the first weekend (Sept. 1-2) after classes start from 9:00am to 5:00pm, Saturday and Sunday. If you participate (or plan to participate) in fraternity/sorority life, you will need to ask for permission well in advance to be excused from weekend activities that may conflict with our mandatory training.
The following meeting is also mandatory. Mandatory means that you MUST attend. The only exceptions would be for illness, emergency, or another significant event outside your control. We expect that you will manage your time in order to prioritize training over any electives or time-flexible activities such as organizational events, study time, or other activities. Please hold this date in your calendar, as you will be expected to attend if you are selected for this position:
- The Haven Confidential Advocate Team Building Event: Saturday, April 14 (time TBD)
Please direct any questions to Liz Cascone, Director of The Haven, 757-221-7478 or lizcascone@wm.edu.
**Please note. Students who are Resident Assistants (RAs) at W&M may not volunteer as a Confidential Advocate due to a conflict of interest. All volunteers must be in good standing at W&M in regards to conduct and honor polices.
