Opportunity Flourish AmeriCorps Program

The Opportunity Flourish AmeriCorps program offers opportunities for students and community members interested in working directly with young people in the Greater Williamsburg community. 

Our AmeriCorps program has two components:

Each of our programs will incorporate family engagement and provide culturally responsive curricula and activities. In addition, each of our programs will offer three levels of service.

*If you qualify for Federal Work Study, you can be paid a stipend at the FWS hourly rate for your service.

All positions require a year-long commitment (October through May).  

Letters & ME (Mentoring Early) 

Have you ever wanted to work with preschoolers? Are you interested in the development of early literacy skills and social-emotional skill development? If so, then Letters & Me (Mentoring Early) is for you! 

As a part of this service opportunity, you will partner with W&M School of Education faculty Dr. Debbie Ramer and Dr. Janise Parker to support Williamsburg-James City County Community Action Agency's Head Start Program or York County Head Start preschoolers and their families. 

Project Discovery Sparks 

Are you interested in youth development? If you’re interested in working in an educational setting either during the traditional school day or during out-of-school time hours, Project Discovery Sparks is for you.  

Come work with middle schoolers who will explore Passion Projects. You will partner with Dr. Meredith Kier and Dr. Janise Parker from the W&M School of Education and Jana Shelton with Project Discovery from Williamsburg-James City County Community Action Agency to help youth discover more about the things that they love.
