Parking for Commencement Weekend 2021
Full Description
As we begin final preparations for this weekend's graduation events there are a few parking restrictions that will be in effect each day.
Tuesday May 18th - Thursday May 20th:
- Sections of the Zable Stadium will be offline for load in of generators and other setup equipment associated with the stage & seating setup.
Thursday May 20th:
- 12:00 pm - Deadline for departments with state or departmental owned/leased vehicles currently in one of the designated parking areas, or at the very least the Kaplan Arena Lots be removed to the School of Ed lot #4 on Mt Vernon Ave.
- 8 spaces along the lower end of Landrum Dr from the firelane to the Crim Dell bollards must be clear to setup queuing lines for the students participating in the Walk Across Campus.
- Alumni Dr will be closed to all vehicular traffic from the Stadium entrance to College Terrace.
- School of Ed traffic must enter through Mt. Vernon Ave and exit via the traffic light at Treyburn Ave.
- Law School traffic must enter from Henry St near the Tennis Center and flow towards the front of the building, following signs and onsite detours.
- Effective at 12:00 pm all of the below areas must be clear of vehicles to make space for guests attending the ceremonies. Members with passes for these areas must display them and can remain.
- General Guest Parking: (1,610 Spaces)
- Zone 1 - Upper & Lower Kaplan Arena Lots
- Zone 1 - Compton Lot
- Zone 1 - Brooks St 1
- Zone 1 - Brooks St 2
- Zone 1 - McClurg St
- Zone 2 - Parking Deck (Overtime parking longer than 30 minutes after ceremony)
- Zone 3 - Rear Sadler Lot (President's Guests)
- Zone 4 - Zable Stadium - Spaces for ADA & Limited Mobility Drop-off Only
- Zone 4 - OD lot
- Zone 4 - All of the James Blair lot & signed spaces near K&Q Gate
- Designated F/S Parking
- Official Party - OD Lot overflow in JB Lot
- Faculty Attending the ceremonies – Swem F/S Lot = 50 spaces
- Working F/S – Any daily parking lots throughout campus not otherwise signed or reserved for special use.
- Student Parking
- Student’s in ceremonies – OTP, Yates, Plant Lot, Morton Lot, Upper Landrum Dr, Wake Dr, Ukrop Way, Ludwell Apts, Law School & Gradplex lots, several other smaller lots
- Diploma P/U – Dawson Circle = 25 spaces set for 15 min only
- Volunteers & Vendor Parking
- Pass for James Blair lot (ASL, Photographers, JRAVS, TeleMedia, City staffer for their stage, Sunday AM ceremony outside Press/Media).
- Ushers & Volunteers - Harrison Ave
- The W&M Media staff will park in spaces along College Terrace.
- General Guest Parking: (1,610 Spaces)
- After the last ceremony of the day the lots will be closed to parking, no overnight parking will be allowed Friday - Sunday
