OUA collaborates with various agencies across the Commonwealth for the development of projects on campus. The authority having jurisdiction for code and permitting related items is the Division of Engineering & Buildings.
Division of Engineering & Buildings (DEB)
The Building Official for all buildings on Commonwealth of Virginia property excluding non-occupiable buildings, bridges and structures in the VDOT right-of-way is the Director of the Division of Engineering and Buildings, Department of General Services. The Building Official’s duties, responsibilities and authority generally conform to those described in the Uniform Statewide Building Code.
Art & Architecture Review Board (AARB)
The AARB is an advisory board appointed by the Governor to review the design or modifications of the State-owned buildings, property and works of art. The AARB recommends approval or disapproval to the Director of General Services, to whom the Governor has delegated this authority. The AARB membership and criteria are set out in Section 2.2-2400 of the Code of Virginia.
Virginia Dept. of Historic Resources (DHR)
The Virginia Department of Historic Resources is the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) in Virginia. As the SHPO, DHR administers a number of federal programs. The Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity's mission is to enhance growth opportunities for Virginia’s small businesses. The Department coordinates with the university on supplier diversity initiatives and SWaM goals.W&M Center for Archaeological Research (WMCAR)
The William & Mary Center for Archaeological Research provides cultural resource research services for public and private agencies and organizations, including the Office of the University Architect. Services include cultural resource management studies, archaeological survey, testing, data recovery, material culture analysis, historical research and interpretation, GIS applications, architectural survey, National Register nomination, HABS and HAER survey, historic building conditions analysis, maintenance plans, restoration plans, stabilization plans and historic building materials analysis.
