President Rowe releases first annual report, 'Moving Forward'
William & Mary President Katherine A. Rowe today released her first President’s Report at the university, “Moving Forward,” reflecting a fresh design arranged to reflect Rowe’s strategic listening initiative.
“This report illustrates the exciting work we are pursuing at William & Mary today, as well as our aspirations for the future of knowledge-making, work and service,” Rowe said in her message. “As the second-oldest institution in the country, William & Mary was the start-up lab for U.S. higher education. So being old and being new are equally familiar to us. We embrace this seeming contradiction as readily as we embrace the & in our name.”
The 2018-2019 online report, including a president’s message, videos, written features, graphics and select news stories, is aligned thematically according to the future of knowledge, work and service – the community initiative’s three areas of focus.
It further illustrates the main themes that emerged from the listening initiative: William & Mary is defined by its deep, human connections; diverse modes of learning and research are increasing in value; and developing the ability to skillfully bridge differences among people and groups is vital.
The report is available online and was announced through an email from Rowe to the William & Mary community on Monday. It was prepared by University Communications in collaboration with the President’s Office and University Advancement.
