As William & Mary prepares to say goodbye to one class, the university is welcoming another: the Class of 2019.

“This is an exceptionally talented group of students that we’ve admitted to the Class of 2019,” said Tim Wolfe, associate provost for enrollment and dean of admission. “Not only were we impressed by their academic and extra-curricular accomplishments, but also by what they will add to our community through their personal experiences and interests. They will have a positive impact on William & Mary, and I know they will make us proud.”

Newly admitted students learned of their acceptance to William & Mary on March 24, and immediately began sharing the good news via social media.

The Office of Undergraduate Admission offered admission to just under 5,000 students this year. They were selected from a pool of nearly 15,000, setting a new application record for the university for the 11th consecutive year. A total of 1,520 students are expected to enroll in the fall.

Some notable facts about the admitted students:

  •  89 percent: students with a class rank who are expected to graduate in the top 10 percent of their classes
  •  1410: median SAT score
  •  32 percent: approximate number of students of color
  •  7 percent: approximate number of international students
  • 20: students expected to enroll in the St Andrews Joint Degree Programme

Many of the students and their families are expected on campus April 11 for the Day for Admitted Students. The event includes campus tours, sessions on everything from service to sustainability, mock faculty lectures, the opportunity to visit academic departments, an activities showcase and a picnic lunch featuring student performance groups.
