Golden opportunity for Tribe basketball fans Saturday
The William & Mary athletics department will host the first “Gold Rush” game on Saturday, Jan. 24, when the men’s basketball team hosts Northeastern at 2 p.m. in a match-up of two of the top teams in the CAA.
Fans are asked to wear gold and to help "PACK THE KAP." The game, which will be televised nationally on the NBC Sports Network, is also the third annual Shoeless Showdown.

A few important promotions to remember for the Gold Rush game: The first 3,000 fans will receive a gold pom-pom courtesy of Boyer’s Diamonds and Fine Jewelry. The first 1,000 fans will also receive a gold Tribe t-shirt thanks to University Advancement. During the Tribe’s matchup with Northeastern, a randomly selected fan in attendance will have a chance to take part in a $10,000 shot contest.
C&F Bank, Chick-fil-a and The Salvation Army of Williamsburg will once again team up with Tribe Athletics to raise awareness for children and adults in the area in need of shoes. Fans who donate a new pair of shoes (children or adult) at the game will receive a free ticket to the game. In addition, each person donating a new pair of shoes will get a ticket to the Tribe’s home game with Elon on Feb. 11, a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A sandwich and a $10 voucher toward a new C&F checking account.
To show its support, the Tribe coaching staff will coach barefoot. All shoes will be donated to the Williamsburg Salvation Army. Donations are also accepted at any C&F Bank in the Williamsburg area.
Come out and show your support for the Tribe and for the Williamsburg community. Help us paint Kaplan Arena gold and "PACK THE KAP." Be sure to be social and share on social media by using the hashtags #PackTheKap and #WearGold.
