W&M to host 11th Annual Graduate Research Symposium

The 11th Annual Graduate Research Symposium will be held at the Sadler Center at William & Mary March 23-24.

The two-day, broadly themed academic conference is designed to bring together graduate students in differing areas of study in the Arts & Sciences.

The symposium will include 149 total graduate student lectures and poster presentations. Graduate students from each of the College’s 11 Arts & Sciences graduate programs and 43 presenters from 18 visiting institutions – including, Clemson, Georgetown University, the University of North Carolina, Temple University and Virginia Commonwealth University -- will give presentations on their current research in fields ranging from American studies to physics.

Up to $5,700 will be given in awards for excellence in scholarship in the humanities and social sciences and in the natural and computational sciences. Also, up to $1,250 will be given in awards for excellence in undergraduate mentoring in the humanities and social sciences and in the natural and computation sciences.

The symposium is hosted by William & Mary's Graduate Student Association of Arts & Sciences and the Arts & Sciences Office of Graduate Studies and Research. It is free and open to undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, alumni and the public.
