VSO to perform free concert at Lake Matoaka

Matoaka Amphitheatre The Virginia Symphony Orchestra (VSO) will perform a free concert Sept. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at William & Mary's Lake Matoaka Amphitheatre.
The Virginia Symphony Orchestra (VSO) will perform a free concert Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at William & Mary's Lake Matoaka Amphitheatre.  The family-friendly concert is the first in a series of five free concerts in the Hampton Roads area that the Symphony is giving as a prelude to their new season.  The performance in Williamsburg is co-sponsored by the City of Williamsburg, the College of William & Mary, and William & Mary's Student Assembly.

The Symphony's new Associate Conductor Benjamin Rous has crafted a rousing and varied program entitled Symphonic Fireworks!  Selections include John Williams' Star Wars Suite; Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight of the Bumblebee; Broadway highlights from Evita and Gypsy; and Tchaikovsky's stirring 1812 Overture.

Guests are invited to bring their family and friends, picnic baskets, beach chairs and blankets. In the event of inclement weather, the
performance will be held at Phi Beta Kappa Hall,   For information
