The William and Mary men's basketball team will open the CAA Tournament play in the first round against No. 7-seeded James Madison on Friday, March 6. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. at the Richmond Coliseum. The College will be the No. 10 in the league tournament for the first time. Last season, the Tribe advanced to the CAA Championship game for the first time in school history.

The Tribe is coming off a dramatic 48-47 win over Drexel in the regular season finale. Junior wing Danny Sumner, who finished with a game-high 13 points, connected on a 3-pointer from the left wing off a pass from freshman Kendrix Brown with 29.5 seconds remaining to give the College the victory. It was Sumner's third 3-pointer of the game, as he shot 5-of-10 from the floor in the contest. Fellow classmate David Schneider finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, while freshman Quinn McDowell, who was named CAA Rookie of the Week, tallied 11 points in the victory. James Madison dropped its second straight game to end the regular season, falling at Delaware, 79-65. Juwann James led the JMU attack with 26 points.

It will be the 11th meeting between the Tribe and Dukes in the league tournament. The Tribe won the last tournament meeting between the two schools, 68-54, during the 2005 CAA Tournament.
