Rasmussen featured on 'With Good Reason'

Ann Rasmussen, associate professor of ethnomusicology, will be featured on the public radio program With Good Reason this week in a segment about Christmas music. With Good Reason airs on local public radio stations throughout Virginia. The first airing of Rasmussen’s appearance was Saturday, Dec. 19 on Richmond’s WCVE 88.9.  Other broadcast times are available online and will occur periodically WGR logothrough Dec. 24.

Rasmussen, who is also the director of William & Mary’s Middle Eastern Music Ensemble, discussed Middle Eastern spiritual music as well traditional American Christmas music. She notes that some of her favorite holiday music are traditional holiday tunes reinterpreted by artists.

William & Mary is part of a consortium of Virginia universities that support With Good Reason and their mission to develop the civic, cultural, and intellectual life of the Commonwealth by creating learning opportunities for all Virginians. William & Mary faculty frequently appear on the program. In Oct. Hermine Pinson, associate professor of English and Dan Cristol, professor of biology were both showcased.
