Emily Anderson Named CAA Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year
A junior kinesiology major, Anderson was selected to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team in 2007-08 and is a two-year recipient of the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Award. She was selected as the Most Outstanding Performer at the 2008 CAA Cross Country Championship after claiming the individual title by 15 seconds with a time of 21:02. The effort earned her all-conference honors for the second straight year and helped lead W&M to the team championship. Anderson also placed 47th at the Pre-National Invitational, was 49th at the NCAA Southeast Regional and finished fourth at the Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge.
The conference honors a Scholar-Athlete in each of its 22 sports. Nominees for the award must be a starter or important reserve on their team and must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20. The winners were selected by a vote of the sports information directors at each CAA institution.
