Cultural dining and stories of home
The event, billed as a cooking class, was hosted in the German House in Giles Hall. For those who attended, it became less of a class than an opportunity for students at the College to talk about food and to share memories of distant homelands.
International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education. Its goal is to prepare students for success in the global community and to celebrate cultural exchange in all forms. At the College, the cooking class was one of numerous events designed to expand cultural horizons. Other events included an International Music and Dance Showcase at the Kimball Theatre, an International Photo Exhibit at the Swem Library and an International Dinner at the Commons, which was attended by more than 2,000 students.
