Choir CD to help fund summer trip
Last year, the William and Mary Choir significantly added to its ever-growing legacy when it pulled off a superb performance of Franz Joseph Haydn's "The Creation." Sale of that performance in the form of a CD will help fund another first for the choir when it travels to Spain, Portugal and Morocco in May.
"The Creation" was performed with nationally known soloists and with authentic period instruments, making it one of only three-or-four "historically-informed" recordings available, according to choir director James Armstrong. He credited the William and Mary students with rising to a level compatible with that of the professionals in both their preparation and their execution. "They are young, and they are ready to do anything," he said.
The two-disk CD is being sold for $25. It can be ordered on the choir's website.
