Suspicious person
Vice President for Administration Anna B. Martin sent the following message to the campus community on Sept. 13, 2010. -Ed.
Dear William & Mary community,
There have been two recent reports of a male suspect confronting female
students with lewd behavior or gestures. Both incidents occurred on
campus. The most recent incident occurred on the DuPont
Bridge. The prior incident occurred on Landrum drive. Neither
student was hurt in the incidents.
My purpose in writing is two-fold. First, it is to caution you that there
may be someone in the Williamsburg area who is approaching young women and
acting in an inappropriate manner. Second, please be aware of your
surroundings and avoid walking alone whenever you can, especially at night. If
you are on campus, remember you may call the ESCORT service at 1-3293.
Additionally, if you see a person meeting the following description, or
experience anything suspicious call the William and Mary Police at 757-221-4596
immediately: Black male, in his 40’s, possibly with a goatee, driving a tan
sedan. If possible attempt to get a license plate number.
Thank you.
Anna B. Martin
