What's that you see...a William and Mary T-shirt on Jodie Foster?
Students and alumni aren't the only ones wearing William and Mary paraphernalia. Actress Jodie Foster (Silence of the Lambs, 1991; Contact, 1997 and Flightplan, 2005 ) sports a William and Mary T-shirt in a scene of the 2008 motion picture "Nim’s Island."
A representative for Fox-Walden, U.S. distributors of the film, said it was the directors' recollection that while discussing the character with Jodie Foster during prep for the movie it was she who came up with the notion that Alexandra Rover should be an alum of William and Mary.
In the movie Foster plays Alexandria Rover, the reclusive author of a series of adventure books that stir imagination of a young girl, Nim, who lives on an uncharted island with her father.
If you want to catch a glimpse of the William and Mary word mark, the film is now also out on DVD. But don’t blink, the T-shirt appears just once. Foster donned the T-shirt for a workout scene in Rover's apartment.
