Statement on the current status of DACA

William & Mary President Katherine A. Rowe issued the following statement on the current status of DACA. - Ed.

“William & Mary stands with our undocumented and DACA students in this time of continuing uncertainty. As the Alma Mater of the Nation, we take great pride in our nation's long and rich history of immigration, a source of strength and resilience. Our mission calls us to convene great minds and hearts to meet the most pressing needs of our time. For these reasons, we deplore the unfair and persistent efforts to block the opportunities DACA provides and call on the Administration to comply with the Supreme Court’s recent ruling. Without the ability to apply for and renew DACA status in a timely manner, our students’ opportunities will be constrained, their well-being threatened, and our vibrant campus community will be diminished. W&M will advocate with our legislative leaders to advance bipartisan solutions permanently to protect undocumented and DACA students."
