SEVP issues clarification for fall 2020
Eva Wong, director of international students, scholars and programs, sent the following message to William & Mary's continuing international students July 24, 2020. - Ed.
Dear students,
On July 24, the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) issued a message that reaffirms their March guidance and clarified questions that students and schools had for fall 2020.
I am pleased to announce that SEVP has confirmed that continuing F-1 international students may engage in 100 percent online coursework and still maintain their immigration status and remain in the U.S.
The March guidance had confirmed that F-1 students who are currently abroad may be enrolled remotely and still maintain their immigration status.
President Rowe issued a statement today to affirm William & Mary’s continuing support for international students: “William & Mary will remain vigilant in our support for our international students, who are valued members of our learning community. We will continue to advocate for flexibility through our legislative liaisons to Congress.”
I hope this positive outcome increases clarity as you plan for the fall. Please know that William & Mary will continue to do everything in our power to support you, no matter what.
Best,
Eva
