The W&M Emergency Management Team sent the following weather-related messages to the campus community Jan. 6-10, 2017.
Schedule reminder

Dear William & Mary community:
William & Mary will be open Wednesday, January 11. The university will reopen tomorrow at 5 a.m. and we will resume our normal operating schedule.
Facilities Management personnel have worked diligently clearing parking lots, pathways and roads on campus, but please still use caution walking across campus and in the parking lots. Use the cleared entrances and pathways even if they are not the most direct route.

Weather Update: Closed Tuesday

Dear William & Mary community:
Given the snow and ice that remains from the weekend's winter storm, especially on secondary roads, William & Mary will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 10 and all university events are cancelled. The Provost has cancelled all scheduled classes for Tuesday as well. Essential personnel should check with their supervisor for reporting times.
The university will reopen on Wednesday, January 11 at 5 a.m. and resume a normal operating schedule.
Facilities Management personnel continue to work diligently clearing parking lots, pathways and roads on campus, but please still use caution on Wednesday getting to and navigating campus. Also, please use cleared entrances and pathways even if they are not the most direct route.
Again, we remind you that only essential personnel and those already authorized to be in residence halls should be on campus prior to Wednesday morning.

Weather Update: Closing

Dear William & Mary community:
Due to the impact of the weekend's winter storm, William & Mary will be closed on Monday, January 9 through 8 a.m. Tuesday. All university events are cancelled for the same time period. The Provost has also decided that any classes scheduled to begin Monday are cancelled. Essential personnel should check with their supervisor for reporting times.
Facilities Management personnel are working diligently to clear and treat parking lots, pathways and roads. But, freezing or near freezing temperatures forecast for most of the day today and overnight will make clearing the snow challenging. To help facilitate the clearing process, only essential personnel and those already authorized to be in residence halls should be on campus.

Weather Update: Winter Storm/Closing

Dear William & Mary community:
Forecasters are predicting a winter storm will hit Williamsburg and the Hampton Roads area tonight and into tomorrow. A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the area and forecasters are predicting accumulations in the range of six to eight inches.
Given this forecast, and the expectation that snowfall will continue throughout most of the day on Saturday, campus will be closed as of 7 p.m. Friday and remain closed through the weekend. All events Saturday and Sunday are cancelled. This includes both Saturday's Men's Basketball and Sunday's Women's Basketball games. No one other than essential personnel and those already authorized to be in residence halls should be on campus. Essential personnel should also check with their supervisors. The university will reopen Monday at 8 a.m. pending future notifications and conditions.
