Williamsburg shooting suspect in custody
William & Mary Police Chief Deb Cheesebro sent the following message to the campus community - Ed.
Dear William & Mary community,
The Williamsburg Police Department announced today that the suspect in the August 27 shooting incident at Tribe Square has turned himself in and is in custody at Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
Warrants on John Lee Johnson, 22, of Newport News were obtained on August 28 for one count of maiming, two counts of reckless discharge of a firearm, two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling and one count of brandishing. According to a press release from the Williamsburg Police Department, which has jurisdiction in the case, Johnson is being held without bond.
