Task Force on Race and Race Relations
President Taylor Reveley sent the following message to the campus community Feb. 2, 2015 - Ed.
Dear William & Mary Community,
I am in the process of creating a Task Force on Race and Race Relations at William & Mary, akin to the task force now at work on sexual violence. Chon Glover, our Chief Diversity Officer, will serve as chair. The full membership will be appointed soon and a charge to the task force prepared.
We need to engage difficult racial issues at William & Mary, just as we grapple with those raised by sexual assault and harassment. The necessary conversations and inquiries will not be simple or easy. But these are the very sorts of discussions a W&M education prepares us to undertake. The task force will identify issues related to race relations on campus, engage them on their merits, and encourage meaningful conversation among people with different perspectives, so we can learn from one another and ensure we are a university where everyone is welcome and respected.
