Dear William & Mary Campus Community,
Today, July 9, 2015, at approximately 10:30 AM an armed robbery occurred at the Langley Federal Credit Union, located in the 1200 block of Richmond Rd. The suspect was described as a male wearing all dark clothing and a mask. Suspect reportedly displayed a handgun.
The suspect was last seen leaving the scene, with no known direction of travel. The W&M Police Department have several officers in this area and around campus. We will continue to have an increased police presence throughout the day.
While the suspect has not yet been apprehended, we have no reports of the suspect on campus. We do ask that you remain aware of your surroundings and report anything unusual to W&M Police (x14596).
Also, please remember that William & Mary has a number of resources to help with your safety including Rave Guardian App and Campus Escort.
The Rave Guardian app works like an emergency "blue phone" in your pocket and has a number of additional important safety functions. One touch can connect you immediately with W&M Police, or you can send a text or photo tip. The app may be downloaded from the Emergency Management Team's website.
If you are out late and would like an escort back to your dorm, you may contact William & Mary Police at x14596.
Stay safe,
Deborah Cheesebro, Chief William & Mary Police Department
