A letter regarding race weekend parking on and near campus
To Whom It May Concern:
On June 1 and 2, 2013, the Achievable Dreams and Wounded Warrior Foundations will be holding their third Annual Run for the Dream 8k Masters Race and Half Marathon. These races begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. on Sunday, with both races concluding by noon each day. The start line for both days is on Jamestown Road in front of William & Mary's Phi Beta Kappa Hall. On Saturday, the race will travel down Griffin Avenue, Newport Avenue, Nassau Street, through the historic area onto Prince George Street, Armistead Avenue and Richmond Road, finishing at Zable Stadium. On Sunday, the race proceeds down Jamestown Road, through the historic area onto Lafayette Street, York Street, Quarterpath Road, Route 199, the Colonial Parkway National Park, Newport Avenue, and Boundary Street, once again finishing on the campus of William & Mary.
In order to make this a safe and enjoyable event, many of the roads mentioned above will be closed and vehicle traffic may experience minor delays. Additionally, these roads must be cleared of any parked vehicles, or larger obstructions, and will require that “No Parking” signs be posted in these areas beginning on Thursday May 30. These signs will not be enforced until midnight on Friday May 31. Very early Saturday and Sunday morning it .is imperative that all vehicles are removed from the race route, in the areas marked with “No Parking” signs. Any vehicles that are found parked in the road on Saturday and Sunday mornings where the “No Parking” signs are posted will be subject to receiving a parking ticket and being towed at the owner's expense. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, however these steps are necessary and we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
