Test of Emergency Notification Systems
Vice President for Administration Anna Martin sent the following message to the campus community on Jan. 25, 2012 with the following note. - Ed.
Test of Emergency Notification Systems
We will conduct a test of the College's emergency warning and mass notification systems next Wednesday, February 1, at 12:15 pm. The College tests these systems at the beginning of each semester to ensure that all members of our community become familiar with them.
The College’s mass notification system is now linked with the social media sites of the W&M News. In addition to campus email, text and landline and cell phone, you can now receive emergency messages by following the W&M News Facebook page and W&M News Twitter page.
The mass notification system is not intended to ensure that every communication channel reaches every individual simultaneously. Our goal is to use these multiple channels to create redundancy thereby reaching each individual through at least one channel.
If you are new to the campus and have not yet enrolled in the mass notification system, you may do so through MyWM, Banner self service. Simply click on to personal information and you will find "Update Campus-wide Emergency Phone Numbers.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we continue to strengthen our emergency preparedness systems on campus.
