Jamestown Road closure March 6
The following notice went out to the William & Mary and Williamsburg communities - Ed.
On Tuesday, March 6, the College of William & Mary will be removing a large ash tree along the brick wall on Jamestown Road near the Brafferton. (Rain date March 7th) The tree is dying and must be removed due to safety concerns. A crane will need to be placed in the road to assist with the safe removal of the tree. This will require closing Jamestown Road starting at 6:30 a.m. on the day of the removal and lasting until approximately 6 p.m. the same day.
The College is working with the City to manage the closure. Car traffic will be detoured using Griffin Ave., Newport Ave. and Boundary St. There will be no thru-traffic on Jamestown Rd. for trucks. A map of the detour area is available online at the Parking Services website (detour from Jametown Rd.; detour from Richmond Rd.). Several campus parking lots will also be affected, including the Ewell Circle and Bridges parking lots. Alternate lots may also be found at the Parking Services website.
