Suspicious Person Update
Vice President for Administration Anna B. Martin sent the following message to the William & Mary community on May 13- Ed.
Dear William & Mary community,
On Wednesday, Williamsburg Police arrested a suspect in a series of reported incidents that occurred April 26 at the Williamsburg Shopping Center. William & Mary Police have interviewed this suspect and do not believe he is the same person involved in two reported cases on or near campus.
A female student first reported a suspect near Ukrop Way and Wake Drive on May 5. Five days later, a another female student reported the suspect was sitting in a parked, dark-green car just off campus on Rolfe Road. According to the student, the suspect appeared to be acting in a lewd manner, motioned for her to come to the car and then drove away when she walked away and called the police. The suspect in both these cases is described as a black male in his late 20s to early 30s. He has a round face with protruding eyes and a gap between his front teeth. He has been seen driving an older model dark green vehicle. William & Mary Police and the Williamsburg Police Department continue to work closely in investigating these cases.
Please remember to be aware of your surroundings at all times, avoid traveling alone after dark and report any suspicious activity immediately to William & Mary Police. If you have any information on the suspect or vehicle (including license plate information) please call 757.221.4596 or the Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-U-Up.
And, as always, take care of each other.
Anna B. Martin
