Message regarding the passing of Gene Epley
In Epley's three seasons as the College's Defensive Coordinator (1983-85), he made significant contribution to the Tribe's successes on the field and to the player's lives off of it.
During his time at William and Mary, the College posted three-straight winning seasons, including a 7-4 mark in his final year with the program.
Epley went onto have a distinguished coaching career after leaving the College, highlighted by a 12-year run as the head coach at Marietta College. He finished his stint as the Pioneer program's winningest head coach and having mentored a total of 74 all-conference performers, including six NCAA Division Div. III All-America.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday (Nov. 27, 2010) at 1 p.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 401 Scammel St., Marietta.
