Alumni Association welcomes newest members to the Tribe
The following e-mail message was sent to alumni Thursday by Karen Cottrell, executive director of the William & Mary Alumni Association. -Ed
It's fall again, which means the campus is once more a flurry of activity. For most of the newest members of the Tribe, the opening week of school is the first time they engage with William and Mary as students; for a few parents and siblings, it is a return to the place where they, too, once were students. All are now members of the College family, and we are excited to have them.
This video presentation is a glimpse into some of the sights and sounds of the opening weeks of the academic year. Plenty of smiling (and nervous) faces, plus all the sights and sounds of the week. You will also hear a few words from one of our most faithful alumni and vice president of the Alumni Board of Directors, Jim Comey '82, L.H.D. '08, who spoke to the entering class at the Convocation ceremony at the end of the first week of classes. From the heavy lifting outside our freshman dorms to the loud applause that met our new students in the College Yard, the beginning of a new William and Mary year is a good reason to celebrate - no matter where you are.
While this year we celebrate a full quarter of our new students being students of color, the opening of a beautiful new business school and the biggest football win in years, the College - as ever - remains devoted to its formidable history and venerable traditions. Every member of the William and Mary family should be proud of our shared connection. No other school has as strong a foundation from which to leap into possibility.
