W&M Nite at New Town set for Thursday
Beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, students, faculty and staff of the College of William and Mary will gather at the New Town shopping center for the second annual W&M Nite at New Town. Last year, about 1,000 people attended the event.
Organized by the College's Student Chamber of Commerce, the event is made possible through donations and discounts offered by the center's vendors. Highlights for this year include 10 percent off Maggie Moo's ice cream, half-priced appetizers at the Greenleafe Cafe, as well as $1 pizza slices and Jones Soda bottles from Buon Amici.
While many of the discounts are being provided by New Town's restaurants, vendors such as Salon Vivace, Pac Sun, Regal Theaters and More Than Just Beads will also have specials tailored to the College community. Stores will extend their hours to 11 p.m. when the event ends. There will also be a raffle with prizes including a $250 shopping spree and a $100 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble.
"This event is a festive opportunity for students to explore all the restaurant, retail, and entertainment options available to them at New Town! We appreciate the hospitality of the merchants at New Town as they welcome our students to an evening planned just for them," said Interim Vice President of Student Affairs Ginger Ambler.
To facilitate transportation, extra buses will begin running from the Sadler Center to New Town at 7 p.m. every half hour.
