Kennedy receives the Carr Memorial Cup
(Williamsburg, Va.) – Recent graduate Judd Kennedy received the 2008 James Frederic Carr Memorial Cup at the College of William and Mary's commencement exercises May 11.
The Carr Cup, established in honor of a William and Mary student who served with distinction in the First World War and lost his life before returning to the College, recognizes the student who best exemplifies character, scholarship and leadership.
"He personifies character, scholarship and leadership," said Interim William and Mary President W. Taylor Reveley III.
Kennedy received highest honors in his major, Middle Eastern Studies with a minor in Arabic language and literature, and won a 2008 Marshall Scholarship for study in Great Britain –- only the third student from the College to win this award. Outside the classroom, Kennedy has chaired the Undergraduate Honor Council, performed in the Gentlemen of the College a cappella group, held office in Beta Theta Pi fraternity, and is a member of national honor society Phi Beta Kappa.
