'William and Mary Night' at New Town
The College of William and Mary and New Town will
partner to host students at a fun-filled event Thursday, September 20
featuring door prizes, live entertainment by Snackbar Jones, extended
store hours and special discounts for William and Mary students,
faculty and staff (W&M ID is required for discounts). The William
and Mary Night at New Town promises to be a unique opportunity for both
students and merchants and will last from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
“William and Mary Night at New Town promises to be a great evening.
What's not to like about live music, prizes, and discounts offered in a
street party environment. And there is so much available at New Town
now that wasn't there a year ago,” said Sam Sadler, vice-president for
student affairs. “This special program the merchants there have put
together will be a fun way to learn what this fast-growing area on the
edge of our campus has to offer.”
During the event students will have a chance to explore the new shops
and restaurants that have opened since the end of the last academic
year. Bus service will be provided from campus with buses running
approximately every fifteen minutes. Special shuttles will be leaving
from the front of the University Center beginning at 7 p.m.
Snackbar Jones will perform on Main Street from 8 to 11:30pm. The
numerous door prizes include two bikes. A free raffle ticket will be
available to each William and Mary attendee at the event‚s information
center at the New Town Cinema fountain. Winners will be announced at
the bandstand on Main Street 9:15 - 9:30 p.m. Winners do not have to be
present at the time of the drawing to win. Winners and prize pick-up
information will be posted on the New Town web site at http://www.newtownwilliamsburg.com/.
Merchant discounts for the event and additional information about New Town are also available on the New Town web site at http://www.newtownwilliamsburg.com/.
