Test of campuswide siren set for Oct. 15
The College of William and Mary will be conducting
a test of its new emergency campus-wide siren Monday, Oct. 15, 2007 at
12:15 p.m.
The 120-decibel siren system – stationed above both the Integrated
Science Center and the William and Mary Law School – will begin with
three 10-second blasts that will be separated by five-second intervals.
That will be followed with a three-minute sounding of the alarm, which
is expected to be heard on the campus and in the neighboring community
in Williamsburg.
Monday’s test will only include a sounding of the new siren system. The College will conduct a full test of its new emergency alert system -- including the new mass notification messaging system and the campus-wide siren -- later in the fall semester. In the event of a real emergency, people in the community who hear the siren may check for information and instructions at www.wm.edu.
